2009 Beef Study Tour to Brazil

Day 1 — Thursday, January 15USA — BrazilInFl
Late afternoon group gathering in the US international airport of departure and check in for the overnight flight to Sao Paulo, Brazil. Mr. Clint Peck and Mr. Joe Roybal will be greeting the participants.
Day 2 — Friday, January 16Sao PauloInFl, D

Morning arrival into Sao Paulo (GRU) International Airport. After clearing customs and immigration, we’ll be met by your guide who will escort us to our hotel.

After checking–in we’ll have an orientation meeting on Brazil and the Brazilian cattle industry by an attaché for U.S. Consulate in Sao Paulo. Welcome dinner at Figueira Rubayat restaurant — a fine Brazilian restaurant located in the upscale Jardins neighborhood in Sao Paulo.

Overnight: Paulista Wall Street Hotel, São Paulo.

Day 3 — Saturday, January 17Sao Paulo — Campo GrandeB, D

Early morning transfer to the airport for your flight to Campo Grande, State of Mato Grosso do Sul. Upon arrival, we’ll check–in at the hotel before our first ranch visit: Fazenda Prata de Lei — Marca JD, a family owned and operated ranch with focus on seedstock genetics.

Dinner at Costelaria do Gaucho Gastao, a traditional Brazilian "rib" restaurant.

Overnight: Hotel Jandaia, Campo Grande.

Day 4 — Sunday, January 18Campo GrandeB, D

After breakfast we’ll visit a ranch (TBA — to be advised). Afternoon at leisure.

Dinner at the hotel.

Day 5 — Monday, January 19Campo Grande — BonitoB, L, D

After breakfast we’ll visit a ranch on our way to Bonito, which means beautiful in English, and once you get there you’ll understand the reason for the name. In this region we’ll meet ranchers that have introduced tourism to the cattle production due to the ecological rules and biological diversity of the area in order to have a sustainable ranch operation. Visit Fazenda Rio da Prata, meet the owner, Mr. Eduardo Coelho, go back horse riding and snorkeling.

Overnight: Wetega Hotel, Bonito

Day 6 — Tuesday, January 20BonitoB, D

7:00AM visit the "Blue Lake Cave"

10:00AM visit Sao Geraldo Ranch. A good example of sustainable production: mixing beef production and tourism. WE will visit the ranch — horseback riding — and do the floating/snorkeling afterwards. Lunch included.

Overnight: Hotel Wetega, Bonito

Day 7 — Wednesday, January 21Bonito — Pantanal — Campo GrandeB, L, D

Today we’ll have an early wake–up call. At 7:00 AM departure to the Pantanal in Miranda, where we will visit Fazenda Baia Grande, an excess of 20,000 livestock. Late afternoon return to Campo Grande.

Dinner at Churrascaria Boi de Ouro, Brazilian steak house.

Overnight: Hotel Jandaia, Campo Grande

Day 8 — Thursday, January 22Campo GrandeB, D

Breakfast at the hotel.

Morning visit to a ranch TBA.

Afternoon visit a regional EMBRAPA, a federal agricultural research center located near Campo Grande where we will meet with EMBRAPA cattle and agronomy researchers.

Dinner at Gastao Restaurant

Overnight: Jandaia Hotel, Campo Grande

Day 9 — Friday, January 23Campo GrandeB, D

Early breakfast at the hotel followed by a visit to a local beef packing plant.

Afternoon meeting with local cattlemen’s association and Beef Bureau.

Dinner at Churrascaria Khalil, a Brazilian barbecue style restaurant.

Overnight: Jandaia Hotel, Campo Grande

Day 10 — Saturday, January 24Campo GrandeB, D

After breakfast, we’ll transfer to the airport for our flight to Rio de Janeiro. Upon arrival we’ll check–in at the hotel in Copacabana, the most famous beach in Rio de Janeiro. Early afternoon tour of Corcovado.

Overnight: Hotel Excelsior, Rio de Janeiro

Day 11 — Sunday, January 25Rio de Janeiro — U.S.B, InFl

Breakfast at leisure in the hotel and enjoy our last day in Brazil. Check–out time at the hotel is at 12:00PM. Luggage can be stored until pick–up for transfer to the airport. This evening embark on your return flight to the U.S.

Day 12 — Monday, January 26U.S. ˜End of Tour˜InFl

After clearing customs, transfer to your domestic flight to your home airport.

The above itinerary is subject to change for the improvement of the tour and due to availability of technical visits and weather considerations.

Est tour price per person: $4,995 Single room supplement: $ TBA

Visa to Brazil cost per person: To be advised — estimate $165 for visa and visa service fees.

A deposit of $1,000.00/person is due at the time of booking — deadline to sign up is Nov 3, 2008.

The balance of the tour price payable on or before Nov 15, 2008.

Prices are in U.S. Dollars and are based on the current exchange rate and subject to change until paid in full.
